About the client
Background
The Punjab Kings engaged Quess for our industry-leading Integrated Facility Management Services (IFMS). Our team was contracted to provide cleaning and support services during the IPL matches played by Punjab Kings at the Mohali cricket stadium.
The stadium was located on the outskirts of Chandigarh and was known for high-quality practice wickets, IPL matches, and good spectator facilities.
Requirement
The Mohali cricket stadium required special attention and upkeep during the Punjab Kings IPL matches including pre-event and post-event cleaning and general maintenance to manage the A/C and VIP lounges and player, umpire, and BCCI delegates’ rooms.
Challenges
During IPL matches, the stadium accommodates approximately 29,000 spectators, and if it happens to be a Punjab Kings match, it tends to become overcrowded. Dealing with the cleaning challenges that arise from the varying crowd sizes necessitated logistical expertise and the ability to quickly mobilize manpower. And catering to an area of 41.95 acres was no easy feat.
Approach
- Started the deployment with 25 workers on 29th March as per client requirement
- The same deployment followed on the 30th and 31st of March
- Deployed 68 workers on 1st April – Match Day
- Deployed 45 workers on 2nd April
- Deployed 76 workers on 13 April, 70 on 20th April, 75 on 28th April, and finally 76th on 3rd May as per client requirement
Solution
- Only around 1K audience were accepted in the VIP and AC lounge
- Over 80 workforce were deployed to clean the VIP lounge and 30 box rooms
- Ran around 2 shifts with an average time of 50 minutes to clean the area
- A total of 20 restrooms were cleaned in 2 shifts
- Completed all the matches without any escalation
